Therese is the owner / manager of Personal Wellness, a health services based business. Qualified dietitians at Personal Wellness help people to focus on making positive changes to their dietary and exercise patterns and assist them to develop a healthier lifestyle. Personal Wellness offers personalised dietetic consultations for individuals, menu review and nutritional support services for nursing homes, and nutrition related presentations and workshops.
Therese has also completed a double degree at Queensland University of Technology, B. App Science (Human Movement Studies)/ B. Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics).
In 2001 she attended the International Young Professionals Summit as an Australian food and agriculture delegate. From there she became involved in the International Young Professional Foundation. Therese was involved in the Shell Livewire program in 2002 after she had an idea for a business to meet the needs of people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes through a personalised health service. Through the Livewire program she interacted with the local enterprise business network and with the assistance of a mentor was able to put together a feasible business plan. This business plan was regarded highly enough to win her a place in the QLD state finals for the Livewire program.
Therese was then selected in the Australian delegation for the APEC Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs Forum on Business Development with Social Responsibility in Mexico 2002, where she presented a white paper on Entrepreneur Development Assistance Training. Therese is also currently completing PhD research in the area of nutrition and diabetes prevention, in conjunction with Queensland University of Technology and the Royal Women’s Hospital, Brisbane. This further research will help her to improve her business service and also help to make her a leader in the field of diabetes prevention. Personal Wellness operates in the North Brisbane region.
